TORONTO — Kevin Gausman pitched seven strong innings for his first win of the season, and the Toronto Blue Jays stopped the Los Angeles Dodgers’ six-game skid with a 3-1 victory on Sunday.

Mexican Alejandro Kirk went 3-for-3 for Toronto, hitting his first home run of the season in the second inning. He was in an 11-0 slump to start the day.

The Blue Jays had lost five straight games, their most of the season.

Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani hit a deep drive to center field in his first at-bat against Gausman, but Toronto’s Daulton Varsho robbed him completely off the bat before crashing into the fence.

Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run for the Dodgers, his second of the season, but Los Angeles couldn’t complete back-to-back sweeps.

The NL West leaders won three straight in Washington last week before games in Canada.

The three-run rally gave the Blue Jays their first lead since the fifth inning of Tuesday’s loss at Kansas City. For the Dodgers, it was the first time they lost by multiple runs since a 6-4 loss to the Mets on April 20.

For the Dodgers, Cuban Andy Pages is 4-2.

For the Blue Jays, Mexican Alejandro Kirk was 3-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. The Canadian Dominican Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 4-2.
