The FIA disqualifies Haas F1 from qualifying in Monaco!

After the hectic classification of the Monaco Grand Prix 2024 Formula 1the FIA issued a statement in which they left the decision on the result of the two Haas team cars in the hands of the stewards after they found technical regularity in the DRS, and it said: “The adjustable positions were checked of the upper element of the rear wing on cars numbers 20 and 27. The adjustable elements exceeded the maximum allowed of 85 mm on both cars.

“As this does not comply with article 3.10.10 h) of the regulations, I refer this matter to the stewards for their consideration,” it read.

And after a study of the situation, the stewards ruled that both Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg would be disqualified from the sessionwhich would force them to start from the back of the grid at the Monte Carlo circuit.

“The Stewards heard from representatives of the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, the FIA Technical Delegate, the FIA Single Seater Director and the FIA Single Seater Technical Director in relation to a report received from the Technical Delegate (Document 33) on non-compliance with Article
3.10.10 of the Formula One Technical Regulations (“Technical Regulations”),” the statement read. “The Technical Delegate discovered upon examination that the adjustable positions of the rear wing upper element exceeded the maximum permitted by Article 3.10.10 .h of the 85mm Technical Regulations”.

“The team explained that this was a consequence of an inadvertent error on their part when adjusting the spacing of the aileron flaps. The wing used was a new design that was first used in Monaco. The old design was brought into compliance with the regulations “The greatest separation measured from the center of the wing. With the new design, the greatest separation was at the wing tips, but the team had not trained its mechanics to adjust the separation according to the new design, which caused the non-compliance.” .

“The team was sincere in admitting its error. The wing otherwise complied with the Technical Regulations and the FIA technical team confirmed that it was satisfied with the team’s explanation for the error.
Given the admitted violation of the regulations, we disqualify car 27 and 20 from the classification.”

This means that all those who were behind gained a position, including Fernando Alonso and Sergio Pérez, who were eliminated in Q1 and with this They will start from 14th and 16th place respectively in Sunday’s race.
