BOSTON — Dominican Enmanuel Valdez hit two home runs in the first multi-homer game of his career and drove in three more runs as the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 on Saturday.

The Red Sox improved to 32-9, and 17-5 the last two years wearing their City Connect uniforms with yellow jerseys and light blue caps, which they introduced in 2021.

Boston center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela made a spectacular catch on Wenceel Pérez’s drive into the right-center field gap in the sixth and turned it into an inning-ending double play off Matt Vierling.

Colombian Gio Urshela hit a two-run homer off the Green Monster for Detroit, which lost for the 12th time in its last 14 games against Boston. Puerto Rican shortstop Javier Báez made an outstanding play for the Tigers, diving to catch Reese McGuire’s grounder before throwing to first.

For the Red Sox, Mexican-American Jarren Duran was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Venezuelan Wilyer Abreu 3-1. Dominican Rafael Devers went 1 for 4 with one RBI.
