The goal that Federico Valverde scored with Real Madrid against Manchester City in the 3-3 win in the quarterfinals of the Champions League was chosen this Monday as the best goal of the tournament.

UEFA reported on its site that a panel of technical observers had chosen the Uruguayan’s goal over nine other nominees.

The “Halcón”’s great goal came on April 9 in the first leg of the quarterfinals, in which Real Madrid tied 3-3 against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.

The former Peñarol put the ball first into the area with a wonderful volley after a cross from Vinícius Junior and put the ball against the goal post defended by Stefan Ortega.

Real Madrid ended up qualifying as a visitor on penalties against the team led by Pep Guardiola, and thus continued its path that ended with Merengue lifting the trophy at Wembley.
