UEFA reported on its site that a panel of technical observers had chosen the Uruguayan’s goal over nine other nominees.
The “Halcón”’s great goal came on April 9 in the first leg of the quarterfinals, in which Real Madrid tied 3-3 against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
The former Peñarol put the ball first into the area with a wonderful volley after a cross from Vinícius Junior and put the ball against the goal post defended by Stefan Ortega.
Real Madrid ended up qualifying as a visitor on penalties against the team led by Pep Guardiola, and thus continued its path that ended with Merengue lifting the trophy at Wembley.
