He National Championship finished its first round, where Universidad de Chile managed to win the recognition of winter champion, and will return after the Copa América ends. The novelty? He chilean tournament will return with a very important change in its regulations.
The Council of Presidents of the ANFP met this Wednesday, June 12, to vote on changing a measure that has always caused controversy: the date on which the suspensions due to accumulation of yellow cards. Until now, it was the one following the fifth card received.
But that doesn’t go any further. As confirmed by journalist Sergio Godoy, the Council of Presidents approved the change to article 40 of the Code of Procedure and Penalties, and, from the second round of the National Championship, the sanctions for accumulation of yellow cards will be met on the following date.
With this, a measure that has been in force since 2020 and that was applied in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic is eliminated. The ANFP made several transitional regulations at that time and one of them was the suspension of the validity of article 40, which ended up extending longer than expected.
When does the National Championship return?
The National Championship went on hiatus a few weeks ago, although there is still one match that has not been played (Ñublense vs Huachipato on June 20). And when will he return? The week following the end of the Copa América, that is, from July 21.
