Former German coach Joachim Löw has expressed his desire to return to the world of football soon. “For quite some time now, I have been very close to football again. I watch a lot of games, I am immersed in the atmosphere and reflecting a lot,” declared Löw, architect of the World Cup victory in 2014, recently in Bild. After retiring as coach of the Mannschaft after Euro 2021, Löw decided to take a break: “After so much time in the DFB (German football federation), it was important for me to gain distance, I needed it,” he stressed.
Now, Löw feels ready for a new challenge. “I have some plans, some ideas in mind,” said the 64-year-old coach, ensuring that he is still far from “retiring.” However, he hasn’t found the right opportunity yet. “In the last year and now in spring, I have received some offers and inquiries,” Löw explained. But he will only accept something that meets certain parameters: “I will only do something if I am absolutely convinced that it is a good fit for me. I will do it only if I am one hundred percent sure that I can make a difference and achieve something. So far, that hasn’t happened,” he admitted.
Löw believes that soon “a task will arrive that I can identify with. “It will be an interesting challenge.” Despite the various options, he has not yet made a decision. However, the 2014 world champion coach ruled out any possibility of leading the Brazil team. Löw denied the rumors: “There has been no contact with Brazil, much less an offer, so that is not an issue for me.” In general, he does not rule out the possibility of coaching another national team or a club: ““I can imagine both things,” he concluded.
