“I lost all ability to swing”: Nico Jarry’s drama that puts his participation in Wimbledon at risk

The Chilean tennis player and number 20 in the ATP ranking, Nicolás Jarry, revealed this Friday the complex moment of health he is going through, and that he could even miss the third grand slam of the year, Wimbledon, due to an illness that affects the ear.

According to Jarry, he is suffering from Ménière’s disease, which affects the inner ear, and which has not allowed him to train normally.

“My ear nerve became inflamed due to a viral infection, so I lost all ability to swing. Already I managed to reduce the swelling in my ear so that at least my eye doesn’t move too much, because it is a dizzying condition. I’ve been in bed for three weeks, and that is one of the extra-tennis situations that have happened to me this year. I’m not training yet, I don’t have the ability to go to the court, I don’t know when I will be able to,” says the finalist of the Rome Master.

The current Chilean number 1 confides that there is a great chance of missing Wimbledon, but that he hopes to make it to the grass-court tournament.

“I hope to arrive, the doctor says it is difficult for me to arrive, but he believes it is possible. You have to do things as best as possible, I have faith. I like grass; I find that we need to make a more intuitive game”commented

Ménière’s disease would not have a clear treatment, so Jarry himself suggests that his future is uncertain, but that he should reach the Paris 2024 Olympic Games without problems.
