End of course raising the Dicup

DICUP 2024 has put an end to the third season of the Fundació Barça Genuine and, once again, it has been a celebration of inclusive football: eight teams, some coming from very far away, made up of people with intellectual disabilities, have met in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper to share a day of coexistence around the ball. The champion has been the host team, the Barça Foundation, but each and every one of the players who have participated have been able to feel equally winners.

The players from Cordica 21, the Mexican team that participated for the second time in the Dicup and who had the opportunity to greet their compatriot Rafa Márquez, ended up especially happy.

Since early morning, the atmosphere has been fantastic on fields 8 and 9, where the competition took place, and also on the main stretch of the Ciutat Esportiva, where the restaurant and games area has been located and the attendees have was able to be photographed with the women’s team’s Champions League trophy.

Exciting ending

After the two leagues, the first two finishers in group A were FFB Reus and Invencibles Blanes, while in group B they were Fundació Barça Genuine and Magic Dream Team Anoia. In the semi-finals, victory smiled on Fundació Barça and Reus, who beat, respectively, Invencibles Blanes and Magic Dream Team Anoia. The grand final once again crowned the Blaugrana, also champions of the first two editions. In front of a large audience, at Camp 9 of the Ciudad Deportiva, the Barça Foundation beat Reus in extra time (2-1), after an exciting match.

He presented the champion and runner-up trophies to Dr. Marta Segú, General Director of the FC Barcelona Foundation. Also present were the mayor of Sant Cugat, Josep Maria Vallès, and the Deputy Mayor for Sports of Sant Joan Despí, Francesc Vives, as well as the president of the Aura Fundació, Glòria Canals. The players from all the teams have left the Ciutat Esportiva with a medal and a smile. This was the objective for a tournament that, above all, is a celebration of inclusive football.
