Carlos Alcaraz’s first contact with the grass this season lasted twenty minutes: A downpour cut short the training of the Spaniard, who will return to Queen’s this Sunday to try to gain rhythm on this surface before his debut in the tournament.

Alcaraz, champion less than a week ago at Roland Garros, landed in London at noon and, after stopping by the house where he will stay at Wimbledon, went to the Queen’s club to complete his first grass training of the season.

The Murcian, after the triumph in Paris, enjoyed between Monday and Thursday on vacation in Ibiza and then traveled to his hometown, El Palmar, before moving to London, where his plan is to stay a month until the end of Wimbledon.

Accompanied by Samuel López, who acts as coach before Juan Carlos Ferrero’s vacationAlcaraz was barely able to train for twenty minutes with an English sparring partner, until the rain stopped the exercises.

Upon his arrival at the club, Alcaraz was congratulated by Frances Tiafoe, Cameron Norrie and his rival in the first round, Francisco Cerúndolo, with whom he maintains a friendship and with whom he trained on several occasions in this tournament last year.
