Scandal with a youtuber in the opening match

The fact that a youtuber will manage to circumvent all security measures and access the edge of the field dressed as the Euro Cup mascot in the opening match between Germany and Scotland has led to a barrage of criticism from the police and the German Ministry of the Interior towards UEFA as organizer of the event.

According to what the newspaper “Bild” published this Monday, the youtuber Marvin Wildhage, 27 years old and with 873,000 subscribers, managed to access the field with a false accreditation and a costume made in China as Albärt, the Euro Cup mascot.

As the YouTuber himself explains and can be seen in the video he shares on his channel, he arrived at the stadium in a van in which he had pasted the logos of VW and the German Football Federation (DFB) on the side and accompanied by two other men. , and although Their fake work cards gave an error when scanned, a parking pass was enough for security personnel to let them through.

While Wildhage and one of his companions, also 27 years old, entered the interior, the third, still unidentified, left again.

The YouTuber remained for a while in his costume among cameramen and volunteers directly in front of the block of fans, until a UEFA employee became suspicious.

Shortly after, both were controlled by security personnel inside the stadium, handed over to the police and their fake accreditations, recording equipment and costume were confiscated.said a spokesman for the security forces.

The Munich public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation for falsification of documents, fraudulent obtaining of benefits and burglary.

The Munich police headquarters, which internally denies any blame for what happened, refers to UEFA, “since admission is the responsibility of the organizer.”

“UEFA’s security service has clearly failed here. “This is a security risk,” an agent told Bild.

UEFA, for its part, told the newspaper through a spokesperson that it had “evaluated the situation and taken the necessary organizational measures,” in addition to prohibiting the entry of the YouTuber and his two companions to the stadiums where the Euro Cup is being held.

The head of the German police union (DPolG), Rainer Wendt, described what happened as “anything but funny” and added that “there are things that simply should not happen.”

He added that the police did their job in the stadiums and He then transferred responsibility to UEFA.

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann told Bild that “the incident must be followed up quickly and consistently,” and He stressed that access controls are the “exclusive responsibility”, as organizer, of EURO 2024, the joint venture between the DFB and UEFA created for the organization of the tournament.

He added that the Bavarian police were not involved in the YouTuber’s admission.

The YouTuber himself explains at the end of his video that UEFA warned him that if images of what happened were published, it would take the appropriate measures.
