The Chilean midfielder Pablo Galdames was criticized last weekend on social networks by Vasco da Gama fansafter their team’s draw against Cruzeiro at home, and they are in 15th position in Brazil’s Serie A.
Despite the poor performance of his team, Galdames has had continuity in the Rio de Janeiro team, where he has started in 8 of the 9 games they have played in the league, but apparently his performance does not convince all Rio fans.
“Galdames is one of the most embarrassing athletes I have seen wearing a Vasco shirt”, or “The biggest mystery in the world: Why is Galdames still a starter”, “We have a midfielder who does not finish a ball, does not score, does not dribble, it doesn’t matter”, were some of the reproaches against the Chilean online.
Given the criticism against Galdames, his coach, Alvaro Pacheco publicly defended him and described his performance against Cruzeiro as fantastic.
“Galdames played a brutal game. He showed his ability, he was the king in game actions and positionally he had a high performance. OROne of his missions was to kill the rival counterattacks and maintain the position to have a balanced game,” said the coach, Redgol reported.
“He knew how to time when he was outnumbered and he knew when he had to jump to the line of pressure. He played a fantastic game, but I understand and respect the opinion of the fans, who are always right,”added the strategist in his defense.
Galdames arrived at Vasco da Gama in January, after a bad time at Genoa in Italy, where he barely played in recent months. While in Brazil he has achieved continuity, playing 20 games and scoring 2 goals and giving 2 assists, in all competitions.
