PITTSBURGH — Rookie Paul Skenes pitched six innings of one-run ball to win his fourth straight decision in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

Skenes (4-0) allowed six hits in six innings, with seven strikeouts and one walk, leaving his ERA at 2.29. The 22-year-old right-hander has 53 strikeouts and seven walks in 39 1/3 innings. The Pirates are 6-1 in their outings.

Skenes reached 100 mph with five pitches and has 65 pitches of 100 mph or more. The second most in the Major League is Dominican José Soriano (Angelinos) with 36, according to MLB Statcast.

David Bednar pitched ninth for his 15th save in 18 chances. He has made 14 in a row after missing three of his first four.

Bryan Reynolds had a pair of doubles for the Pirates and extended his hitting streak to 15 games.

For the Reds, Dominican Elly De La Cruz had three hits and stole his 37th base to lead the majors.

For the Pirates, Dominican Oneil Cruz was 1 for 4, with one run scored and two RBIs.
