Salvador Negrete (17) is one of the great promises of the Universidad de Chile youth team. The midfielder debuted with the first team in the 5-1 win over Municipal Puente Alto and from now on, The blue fans will begin to follow him carefully..

Negrete played for Palestino from the age of six to 15 and then came to the Azul Sports Center, where today he leads the Under 18 team as captain. “We asked for the pass and went to the U on 16,” Constanza López, his mother, told AS.

Recently, Negrete also signed with AIM Fútbol, a representation agency that also has players like Mauricio Isla, Igor Lichnovsky and Víctor Dávila among its ranks. The young man is already thinking about the future. “He wants to play professional soccer, of course at the U, and then he would like to go abroad,” his mother revealed.

Luis Flores Abarca, former Ñublense scorer, was key in Negrete’s arrival at AIM. Currently, the ‘Pistolero’ works as a technical advisor and recruiter for the company, and in a conversation with this medium he speaks with pride about the midfielder.

-How did you meet Salvador?

– Well, due to things in life, I faced him when he was 13 years old and I was a Ñublense coach in the minor series. I finished my career there and we had a semifinal, precisely with Palestino, and he made a difference. I always say that he, at that age, was already a professional player.

– What did he stand out for?

– He had a lot of character, he commanded his teammates on the field, and the truth is that that caught my attention… And well, last year, sharing with his mother, we talked about ‘Salva’ and I realized that he was at the U. I had just joined AIM and I didn’t think about it (about taking it to the agency). The company is wonderful with him and he has an incredible projection. In the U he is going to give a lot of talk.

– You highlight his personality a lot…

– Yes, he has character both in his personality and when it comes to having the ball. Make a difference, invent, improvise and do things that other children don’t do. I think that caught the attention of the coach (Gustavo Álvarez) to consider it. Even though he is small, he is a giant on the field, and that is what we think at the family level and at the agency level. I believe that he is going to be a giant in Chilean soccer.
