The FIA ​​investigates four drivers after the contacts in FP3 in Spain

FIA stewards are investigating Lewis Hamilton, Lance Stroll, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris after two strange collisions in the third free practice sessions of the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1. With the last run before the qualifying session being critical for the drivers to fine-tune their set-up and tire preparation before qualifying, everyone was looking for a space for a clean turn.

However, there were two separate incidents where drivers seemed to get the better of them after seeing their laps ruined. In the first touch, which took place twenty minutes into practice, the seven-time champion accidentally got in the way of the Canadian, who was on a fast lap.

Lewis Hamilton immediately apologized over the radio and tried to get out of Lance Stroll’s way. in the curve, but he went towards him and both had slight contact, for which the international federation cited both for alleged dangerous driving.

Article 33.4 of the Formula 1 Sports Regulations states: “At no time may a car be driven unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner that could be considered potentially dangerous to other drivers or any other person.”

The second incident occurred during the final laps, when Charles Leclerc saw that Lando Norris hindered him in the fifth turn. While both were heading to the next turn, and with the Monegasque out of time, he went after the British with an aggressive maneuver in which he touched Woking’s car, for which the stewards summoned both.

Speaking to the team’s radio, the Briton said: “He hit me, I think I have damage.”

For his part, an agitated Charles Leclerc said: “F*** it. I don’t understand why they do that.”

Ferrari responded and told its driver that it seemed his rival had also blocked Max Verstappen.
