IndyCar: Agustín Canapino saw the checkered flag in Laguna Seca

Agustín Canapino completed the final of the IndyCar in the circuit Laguna Seca, scene of the eighth date of the season. Alex Palou won for the second time at the Californian track and regained the lead of the championship.

The start of the competition was neat and Kyle Kirkwood took the lead from Alex Palou. For its part, Canapino got through the game with ease, although he lost to Josef Newgarden and then to Santino Ferrucci to fall to 15th place.. The Reef native remained within range of the AJ Foyt driver, despite the fact that Christian Rasmussen also approached him.

Starting on lap 20, the first pit stops began to take place and Canapino managed to climb to 13th place. The “Titan” made its stop on lap 23, where it placed soft tires, and when the classifier was rearranged, it fell to position 21.


Luca Ghiotto was involved in a bad accident and generated the yellow flag on lap 35. The protagonists opted to enter the pits due to the neutralization and that allowed Canapino to climb to ninth place. When the test was relaunched, Canapino tried to account for Kyffin Simpson, but he stepped on the ground and fell to position 13. Before lap 50, he made his second stop and put on the hard compound, returning in 24th position. The man in car number 78 capitalized on Sting Ray Robb’s delay to place 23rd.

The former TC and TC2000 champion began to make a comeback and climbed to 19th place. On lap 72, the “Titan” went to the pits to complete his third stop and apply the soft compound. Five turns later, The Buenos Aires native was in 17th place and with 15 laps to go, he advanced to 14th place after the friction between Scott McLaughlin and Will Power and the incident between Lundgaard and Marcus Armstrong.

About the closure, Canapino clashed with Simpson and the latter broke a tire, spinning and being hit by Graham Rahal. Due to this situation, the competition was neutralized and the Reef native received a penalty, which dropped him to 19th place.

At the end, The Juncos Holliner Racing driver realized Newgarden and saw the checkered flag in position 18. For his part, Palou won, escorted by Colton Herta and Alexander Rossi.

The ninth date of the IndyCar will be next July 7 at the Mid-Ohio circuit.
