A spectacular rivalry comes to the WNBA: Reese against Clark

Angel Reese avenged last week’s loss against Caitlin Clark with a victory for their Chicago Sky against the Indiana Fever in a weekend in which the New York Liberty won again and took the lead.

Clark and Reese revived what was their NCAA college rivalry again in the WNBA.

The duel had its morbidity since last week’s game was highly commented on when Reese hit Clark in the head, which was called a flagrant foul when he tried to make a block.

This Sunday the Sky won the game 88-87 with an outstanding performance by Reese with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Clark had 17 points and 13 assists.

The Sky (6-9) and the Fever (7-11) had already faced each other twice since the start of the season, both with victories for Clark and her teammates.

At the top of the table, the Liberty (15-3) defeated the Atlanta Dream (6-9) 96-75 with 26 points and 11 assists from Sabrina Ionescu.

The New York team took the lead from the Connecticut Sun (13-3), who lost their second consecutive game this time with the Seattle Storm (10-6) by 61-72.

The Liberty will play this Tuesday in the final of the Commissioner’s Cup against the Minnesota Lynx. If they win, they will repeat the title and become the team with the most cups (2) since the founding of the tournament in 2021.

The Lynx won’t make it easy for them. They have the best streak in the WNBA – six wins in a row – and have a record of 13-3, the same as the Sun.
