In conversation with VLN Deportes, the coach Damian Muñoz He referred to his departure from Curicó Unidos and gave his version of the end of the contractual relationship with the club. He assured that “there are still things pending” and denied the leadership version that claims that the settlement “was paid in full.”

With annoyance, Muñoz stated that he always tried to stay out of it. “I tried to generate as little noise as possible so that when the new coach arrived, he would focus on what had to be done, for example, obtaining more points (in the championship) and not losing the category. Unfortunately, there comes a point where you hear many things that are false”, he began saying.

Regarding his exit agreement, he explained: “We gave an option to have the settlement paid in installments and that has not been fulfilled,” adding: “To me They owe me a part of the fifth installment, the entire sixth and part of the seventhwhich are one day in December. The topic has me quite annoyed. and that every time someone is talked about, things are said that are not true.”

Furthermore, he said: “The amounts given they are not the real ones, that’s what bothers me the most. Because if one takes it to the total payment of a settlement, not everything has been paid”.

In this sense, Muñoz maintains that he has all the support that shows that there are unpaid amounts. “Much of that money that is owed to us is part of the objective of having qualified for the Copa Libertadores. So, when we leave the club, and at a members meeting it is implied that one of the reasons why the club is financially bad is because of the money that is owed to us, money that had not been paid to us and that comes from Conmebol, then They have been unclear, that is unfortunate”.

Regarding the debt that the club maintains with him, he adds: “From the month of October of last year that doesn’t happen to me. I have tried to speak with the leadership in every way, I have given all the options, seeing the current situation of the club, but you see that there is no intention, they don’t want to fulfill you”.

Regarding the possibility of initiating legal action, he said: “We work with a group of advisors, but I the issue I have been stopping it since the first month. I tell you no, wait for me, to see what they tell me, but more than six months have passed and there is no positive response. So, I do not rulebecause there is no intention and on top of that they speak badly of you.

Muñoz also referred to the formation of the team after qualifying for the Copa Libertadores. In that sense, he said that the vast majority of players he didn’t ask for it. “Talking about 10 percent would be a lot.”

Furthermore, he added: “In 2022 we had the power to make the squad. In 2023, among us we thought that, if they let us make the squad, especially because of the results, we would do it again, which it was not so. Do you reason it? We do not know“.

Finally, he reflected on his defense and pointed to the leadership stating that “they have not wanted to assume some responsibilities that correspond to them. As a coach, I accept when moments were not good in sports. That is missing in the club, that they take responsibility. It bothers people always listen to a justification and not a self-criticism so it is not done well.”

It should be noted that Muñoz is currently the technical director of Unión San Felipe, which must receive Curicó Unidos when the Promotion tournament returns.
