PHILADELPHIA — A rare bad night for the Phillies could have gotten exponentially worse when Bryce Harper grabbed his left hamstring and limped off the field on the final play of Thursday night’s loss. by 7-4 against the Marlins.

Harper said he felt something in his lower hamstring when he was halfway to first base after his groundout late in the game at Citizens Bank Park. He will undergo more tests Friday morning.

“He just felt his tendon tighten as he ran,” manager Rob Thomson said. “We don’t know anything more than that, so we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to review it.”

That was also the case for Kyle Schwarber, who left the game in the top of the ninth inning with tightness in his left groin.

“He just felt his groin tighten,” Thomson summarized. “So I took it out immediately, as soon as I heard about it. But, again, I don’t have any more news on that until tomorrow.”

Neither Harper nor Schwarber had much to add about their respective injuries.

“I felt something in my lower leg,” said Harper, whose injury occurred the same night he was named the National League’s starting first baseman in the All-Star Game. “We’re going to take a picture tomorrow to see what it looks like. See how I feel tomorrow and go from there.”

Added Schwarber: “We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. Personally, I don’t think it’s something very serious. “We’ll see how I feel tomorrow and make decisions from that.”
