“Don’t you know who I am?”: Alleged thief captured by police in Medellin

The Aburrá Valley Police managed to capture an 18-year-old man in flagrante delicto, moments after an armed robbery in commune 16, Belen. He was allegedly accused of robbing a citizen of his belongings valued at 14 million pesos.

The events occurred in the neighborhood Bethlehem La Mota. Through the emergency line 123citizens alerted the authorities about an individual on a motorcycle who, armed, had allegedly intimidated a person in a commercial establishment, robbing them of their personal belongings.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the security patrols and the monitoring of the security cameras, the lock-down plan was activated, which culminated in the interception of the suspect’s motorcycle. According to the police report, during the operation, a firearm was confiscated from the suspect and the motorcycle, presumably used in the crime, was immobilized.

Citizen sources informed Hora 13 Noticias that at the time of the capture, the alleged thief mentioned that he was the son of former soccer player Iván René Valenciano. The captured man, who apparently tried to use his alleged affiliation to evade justice, was placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office. He will be prosecuted for the crimes of aggravated and qualified theft, trademark falsification, and manufacturing, trafficking and carrying of firearmseither.

So far no communication has been established with the Colombian soccer star about this case.
