According to investigators, Maffini, a player for the Arroyos youth team, collapsed while training with his teammates. The Emergency and Transfer Service was immediately called, whose paramedics ordered immediate transfer to the Community Medical Care Service (Samco), accompanied by one of his teachers.
According to initial reports, the minor arrived at the hospital in a decompensated condition and despite being subjected to resuscitation efforts, he could not be recovered and died a couple of hours later.
According to the medical report, the athlete’s death occurred as a result of a cardiorespiratory arrest.
Maffini’s club, Unión de Arroyo Seco, published a statement on its social media offering condolences to Lautaro’s family and friends; in addition to declaring mourning, so its facilities will remain closed until Sunday 30th inclusive.

Sources close to the investigation admitted that police officers were notified at 18:45 on Thursday that a minor had collapsed during a football practice at the facilities of the Unión club. The judicial authorities ordered an autopsy to determine the causes of his death.
