Google has included search functions with options for travelers who prefer to travel more sustainably than with airlines. For this reason, it includes maps with walking routes, rail alternatives and locations of electric vehicle charging stations.

These new features will be available in the coming weeks in walkable cities such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Paris and Rome, with new features in Maps that will display public transport or walking options along with driving routes requested by users.

Google users can find long-distance train routes as well as bus routes. After searching they can see schedules and ticket prices with links to complete reservations. The feature is available for trains in 38 countries and long-distance bus routes in 15 countries, as reported by Phocuswire.

Train options will now appear in Google Flights searches so travelers can identify the most sustainable option. Likewise, Google said that the artificial intelligence summaries in Maps, which they will implement soon, will include several details for electric chargers for road trips or overnight stays.

As reported REPORTUR.us, Google’s artificial intelligence for travel, Gemini, opposes ChatGPT, owned by Microsoft, which challenged the dominance of the popular search engine, and which now points to a revolution in tourism by bringing this tool to applications such as Google Maps and GoogleTravel. (Google Travel revolution with its Gemini AI against ChatGPT).
