The Huawei Pura 70 flagship smartphones have established another milestone by exhibiting no less than 90% of components from China itself. At a time when the United States is only tightening sanctions on Huawei, this technological independence works in Huawei’s favor and anticipates a scenario that the Biden Administration must not be liking very much.
In a breakdown of the Pura 70, Pura 70 Pra and Pura 70 Pro+ terminals carried out by the company Formalhaut Techno Solution, it was concluded that 90% of the components came from Chinese companies. The Pura 70 Ultra offers less technological independence, yes.
The companies that have supplied the components to Huawei are OFILM, HNLens Technology, Goertek, Sunny Optical, BOE, Goodix Technology, and Crystal Optoelectronics. The most complex component to develop is the processor, SMIC being the company that manufactures it. It is the Kirin 9010, successor to the Kirin 9000S of the Mate 60, with 7nm technology.
At the moment, it seems that the Pura 70 will leave China to reach international markets. What models and what countries they will arrive is unknown. But, it seems that Huawei is achieving what the United States would never want: technological independence to develop its products, software and services.
