Two versions with new large size, M2 chip and all the new features of the iPad Air 2024
They have been rumored for months and we have even been close to seeing them much earlier, but numerous delays have meant that we have to wait. Now, finally, the new sixth generation iPad Air are official. And yes, we speak in plural and it is not exactly by mistake.
Unlike what was seen in previous generations of the ‘Air’, in this new we find two different sizes. Something like the iPad Pro, which has also been renewed today, but in a more restrained version. We review all its features below.

A well-known design, but one that grows in size
If you look at them in a simple photograph, you will see that The two new iPad Air are very similar to their predecessors. Not in vain do they follow the same formula. Straight edges with curved corners, a clean back where there is only space for the Apple logo, a single camera next to its microphone, as well as the smart connector for accessories.
The big news is that, as we said before, this year there are two different sizes. On the one hand the 11 inch version which continues to maintain the same IPS-LCD panel, with a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz and a FullHD+ resolution.
On the other side is the 13 inch model similar to what the larger iPad Pros were in their day. It has an IPS-LCD panel, although unlike those ‘Pro’, its refresh rate is also limited to 60 Hz. No ProMotion here.
Riding an Apple Silicon, the M2
If the iPad Air 5 stood out for something, it was for incorporating a Mac chip for the first time, something that seemed exclusive to computers and, at most, to the iPad Pro. One of those was the M1 and this time it is the M2 chip with versions with 8 and 16 GB of integrated memory which will depend on the capacity chosen.
And it is that There are also new features in storage with up to 1 TB, this being the one that always has 16 GB of integrated memory. With 8 GB there will be storage versions of 128, 256 and 512 GB.
The M2, we remember, is a chip manufactured in a 5 nanometer process, with a neural engine that is 40% faster than the M1 and that It will be used to execute artificial intelligence locallyalthough Apple has not said much about this, since it will be June 10 at WWDC 2024 when they reveal more details with iPadOS 18.
And speaking of software, these new iPads They will come with the latest iPadOSwhich is version 17.5, which until now has been in beta, but which will be stable when these iPads finally land on the market.
As for the battery, Apple does not usually reveal exact capacity. It does say, however, that these iPad Airs are capable of offer autonomy of up to 10 uninterrupted hours with video playback. Without putting it to the test, it is not a bad fact. Even less if we take into account that normally such specific and intensive use will not be made.

As usual, we find different versions depending on connectivity and storage. On the one hand, the standard ones that come only with Wi-Fi and on the other hand, those that are Wi-Fi + Cellular and that allow you to contract an exclusive data rate for them.
It should be said that reservations will open today and that the official launch will occur next week, at which time those who reserved it will also begin to receive them in their homes or nearest Apple Stores.
