Google has begun to implement a new shortcut for iPhone 15 Pro smartphones with which it allows you to activate Google Lens by pressing the action button to search for anything displayed on the screen, in an adaptation of the ‘Circle to Google Search on Android smartphones. With the launch of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S24, which include new search capabilities powered by generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Google launched a feature it refers to as ‘Circle to Search ‘. This feature allows users to consult information, compare results or even buy products, simply by circling a specific element on the screen. Thus, although Google’s ‘Surround to Search’ is not available on iOS devices, the technology company has launched a new shortcut for iPhone 15 Pro smartphones with which, by pressing the action button on the device, Google will be activated Lens and will allow users to perform a search on anything that appears on the screen. Currently, iPhone devices have access to Google Lens through the Google app and Google Photos. Now, with this new shortcut you will be able to carry out searches faster and easier with just the touch of a button. This has been confirmed by 9to5Google, which has had access to this new shortcut and has pointed out that, when activating this function with the action button, the device will take a screenshot that will be scanned by Google Lens and will allow you to take different searches about what is shown on the screen. To use the shortcut, users will need to have the Google app for iOS. Additionally, they will need to download the Google Lens shortcut and implement it for use with the action button through the iOS settings menu. Likewise, according to the aforementioned medium, this shortcut can also be configured through the Back Tap Accessibility function, so that it would allow the same shortcut to be used on other iPhone devices that do not have the action button of the iPhone 15 Pro. The new Google Lens shortcut for iPhone has also been shared by Google Lens design manager Minsang Choi via a post on X (formerly Twitter). However, this post has recently been deleted.
