Google has officially launched the option that allows you to share passwords and login credentials securely between accounts that are part of the same family group, through the password manager service.

The technology giant offers different options for family groups, such as the possibility of using the same payment method or a Google One account shared among all members.

In this sense, the company already announced in February its intention to continue helping users who are part of family groups when it comes to managing different accounts, updating configurations and sharing information in a more secure way. Specifically, allowing login credentials to be shared.

Now, Google has officially launched this feature, allowing members of the same family group to share usernames and passwords for specific websites or services with each other securely, all from the password manager application.

This was announced by the technology company through an update for Google Play Services to version v24.20, which it shared from its support page.

Specifically, as the company explained, when users share a password with this option, family members will receive a copy in their Google Password Manager. This way, when they want to log in to the service to which said password belongs, they will have the information ready to use.

With all this, as Android Authority has been able to verify, the function to share credentials with the family should appear as an option in the Google Password Manager and all you have to do is click on the ‘Share’ button for it to be sent to the rest of the members of the family group.

Likewise, it is a useful option for, for example, family members who coordinate daily tasks using a single account, or in cases where a minor has to share access to their schoolwork with their parents.
