Manzana plans to introduce a dedicated password management system similar to services like 1Password and LastPass with the goal of making it easier for customers to log in to websites and software services.

The company currently has iCloud Keychain featurethat is, an encrypted container that stores account names and passwords for the device, applications, servers, and websites.

Bloomberg journalist specializing in Apple Mark Gurman has now announced that the company plans to launch a new application as part of the next versions of its operating systems -iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS15-, as confirmed by people related to the firm.

This service, similar to other tools such as 1Password and LastPasswill be powered by the already existing iCloud Keychain, which can synchronize passwords and account information between different devices.

Gurman commented that this function was previously integrated into the Company Settings section or appeared when logging into a website. The difference is that Apple you have chosen to create a dedicated application with this capacity.

With this, the analyst commented that this application will allow users of their devices to import credentials from rival services, such as those mentioned above. Besides, will work on Vision Pro headset and on computers with Windows operating system.

It can also support verification codes and serve as an authentication ‘app’ similar to Google Authenticator and, in terms of its design, it will have a login list with different categoriessuch as Accounts, WiFi networks, access codes and a password change format that uses biometric recognition (Face ID and Touch ID).

This and other new features of the brand’s ecosystem, including new features powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), are expected to be announced next Monday, June 10, at the annual developers conference (WDDC 2024).
