Carl Pei confirms new AI-focused Nothing flagship phone

While many of us were waiting for Nada to make its new flagship phone official next month, Carl Pei has just confirmed that the Phone 3 is delayed until 2025. Given that the Phone 2 turns one year old in July and the usual annual smartphone update cycle high-end, this is a reasonably notable gap.

But it seems that Nada didn’t want to just release a new flagship and stuff it with unnecessary AI features to make it look attractive. Instead, the company is taking its time and wants to make AI “integrated at the system level” to “redefine the user interface” and deliver “a highly personalized and dynamic user experience.”

The video that Carl Pei, CEO of the company, published about the Nada 3 Phone talks about what to expect from the next flagship. This video highlights the “post-app world,” which the company wants to connect to today’s app-based world with “a bridge.”

Nada has also shown two main ideas, one of them being a “hub” that will stay on the home screen and show all the information you could need in one place. It’s “dynamic and context-aware” and can offer you things like a boarding pass QR code and reminders when you need them.

As for the second main idea, it is an AI-powered voice companion. Nothing says he is multimodal and “friend-like” with animated “eyes.” He will be “uniquely tailored and personalized” for each user. This companion could even be on the lock screen or integrated with the Glyph lights in the future.

Both projects are in their infancy, and we may not see them launch before the Nada Phone 3. We also don’t know if the company will bring the new AI features to the Phone 1, Phone 2 (current 12/256. $619 on Amazon ), or the recently launched Telephone 2a.
