If there is something that we cannot object to the screens (or rather, to the manufacturers behind them) it is their high innovation capabilities. With the race for high resolutions on the back burner, brands are working to offer proprietary technologies to differentiate themselves from the competition. Everything goes in the bet: from transparent screens to innovative processors with artificial intelligence designed to get the most out of the seventh art.

Many of these screens were presented this year at the most important technology fairs in the world. In this note, a review of the most innovative screen models of the moment.

LG presented a transparent OLED TV: it has a rear opaque filter that unrolls to improve contrast when we want to watch a video

It stole all eyes at the CES fair in Las Vegas. Definitely, if we have to highlight a single product that was the center of attention at the convention center, that was the Signature OLED T. And looking at a screen and being able to see the other side is not something we come across in all living rooms and bedrooms. This LG OLED model has 4K resolution and changes the classic black screen, becoming a discreet television that has the virtue of going unnoticed and blending into the environment. It is not intended to be a decoration piece, but can be transformed into one when necessary.

During the fair, LG showed the possibilities of this type of technology by setting up a bakery in the middle of its booth which, instead of the classic signage, had transparent OLED screens with product information, which could be seen on the other side of the translucent display.

Returning to the functionalities of the OLED T, the television includes the box Zero Connect Box, which has the function of wirelessly transmitting 4K image and high-quality sound to the screen that completely lacks cables, making it even more minimalist.

A transparent MicroLED panel from Samsung

A few hallways away, Samsung showed its answer: its own transparent screen, but built from MicroLED technology (which is nothing other than tiny LEDs). To launch this new model, Samsung declares that it has been working for six years to produce the technologies necessary to develop this transparent panel. Unlike LG’s proposal, Samsung opted with this technology to develop modular panels with which it intends to manufacture different devices that adapt to different needs. Without calling it a TV, the screen has a high adaptability although, surely, it will be the starting point for Samsung’s production of televisions with transparent screens for the future.

The only drawback is that, when viewing the screen from the front, you notice a barely brown tone, so it is not entirely transparent; but for the company’s first chess move in this segment, it’s not bad either.

The 110UX Mini LED television from the Chinese company It offers 95% coverage of the BT.2020 color palette, surpassing other screens on the market that only reach 80%. With this feature, the 110UX sets a new standard in terms of display accuracy and performance. With a 110-inch screen, this television incorporates more than 40,000 backlight zones. This advanced technology effectively minimizes backlight fading, resulting in a significant increase in contrast and improved image quality. Its panel can work at a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz and it has a 4.2.2 channel sound system.

The 110UX’s high-performance Mini LED technology is capable of reaching a level of Brightness up to 10,000 nits, enhancing the clarity and contrast of images and also improving dynamic range. This results in deeper blacks and brighter colors, increasing depth and detail in every scene.

With an immersive viewing experience, this Hisense TV offers different modes that allow you to automatically adapt the screen to offer a good experience when watching movies, playing video games or enjoying sporting events.

There are many companies that work hard in their microprocessors with artificial intelligence for televisions and Samsung is no exception.

The new QN900D includes the new NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which the company says is “the world’s most advanced 8K processor with artificial intelligence.” Among the tasks that this chip can perform is image rescaling, which allows you to considerably improve an old recording or program and elevate the experience when viewing the video in 8K. For this, Samsung’s new processor includes 512 neural networks that scale any content, optimizing not only the image but also the sound.

The Chinese brand has presented an outstanding range of Mini LED televisions this year, among which the TCL QM891G stands out. This impressive television, with its 115 inches, it has an LCD panel and an advanced Mini LED backlight system. Equipped with 20,000 dimming zonesthe QM891G can reach peak brightness of up to 5000 nits, according to details shared by the company.

This model is not only distinguished by its image quality, but also by its performance in terms of refresh rate. It is capable of operating at 144 Hz as standard and can go up to 240 Hz in Game Accelerator mode, a feature that will undoubtedly invite gaming fans to connect their CPU to this TCL product. Additionally, the TV includes a Dolby Atmos audio system with a 6.2.2 channel configuration, providing an immersive sound experience.

This model from the Panasonic company is offered in two screen sizes: 55 and 65 inches. Although at first glance it looks like a common television, it stands out for offering excellent sound quality thanks to its Built-in bar located at the bottom of the device. In addition, it has Dolby Vision and 360 Soundscape Procalibrated by Technics, offering an outstanding surround sound experience.

Inside, the powerful HCX Pro AI Processor MK II stands out, which, in combination with the 4K Remaster Engine, allows you to improve the image of the projection source in real time, taking it up to 4K. Another novelty is that this model includes Amazon’s Fire TV operating system.

Philips also took advantage this year to show something different with The Xtra, which comes in sizes of 55, 65, 77 and 85 inches. One of the most notable improvements compared to the 2023 model is the inclusion of the company’s new processor, the P5, and a maximum screen brightness of up to 1000 nits. This model also stands out for offering a high refresh rate of 144 Hz, with a clear nod to the video game market.
