Riot Games announced the arrival of Valorant to consoles, expanding its popular 5v5 tactical shooter to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Limited beta will begin on June 14, 2024 in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and Japanwith a global release planned later.
In this new version for consoles, Valorant will maintain its focus on competition and precision, characteristics that have defined it on PC. There will be no cross-platform play option between PC and consoles to preserve competitive integrityalthough player progress and inventory will be synchronized across all platforms. Players will receive all updates and new content simultaneously.
“When considering whether to bring VALORANT to other platforms, we knew we had to deliver the same uncompromising competitive experience we’ve been giving our PC players for years: a precise, team-based, tactical shooter,” said Arnar Gylfason, Director of Production. from VALORANT at Riot Games.
“We were adamant that VALORANT’s core competitive gameplay needed to feel natural when using a controller, and if we couldn’t deliver on that promise, we should abandon the project. We hope we achieved that, but our players will be the judge.”
