Blizzard’s MMORPG can sometimes be very cruel, especially in its Classic Hardcore version

The version World of Warcraft Classic has allowed veteran fans to relive their adventures in the world of Azeroth practically as they were conceived, which has encouraged many to return to the MMO of Blizzard. Currently, WoW: Classic has expanded with Mists of Pandaria Remix and Cataclysm Classic, where already some controversial situations have been experienced, but the protagonists of today’s story remain anchored in the regions already forgotten by many fans for months: those of Hardcore mode. And as you will see below, it is not one of those stories with a happy ending. Not at least for them.
A historic carnage in World of Warcraft
The guild Songflower Search Party has seen the hard way how unforgiving WoW Classic can be in its Hardcore mode. The great and at the same time problematic thing about this mode is that everything happens very, very quickly. So much so that, as our colleagues from MGG in France, sometimes you don’t even have time to realize that you just lost dozens or even hundreds of hours of gaming time due to a completely avoidable mistake. Which is exactly what has happened to the adventurers of this story in one of the simplest raids in the game: Magma Core.
With almost no time to delve into this scenario, the 40 members of this American guild suffered a major catastrophe before reaching the first boss, Lucifronbecause more than 30 players died suddenly in what is generally known as a wipe. Come on, practically the entire group lost their lives in a matter of seconds. 36 of them to be more exact. But how is it possible that experienced players have suffered such a spectacular defeat?
On the way to Lurcifron they came face to face with the so-called lava tide. The strategy to follow in this case is apparently simple, since the rule is to attract them one by one to prevent the screen from filling up with minions. What’s happening? They are enemies that do not need much to focus their attention on you, and if they do so at the wrong time, many other enemies can appear along with them that will bring the death of the team. This is exactly what happened to this guild.
The rush and maybe a Overconfidence It caused lots of fire Imps to appear along with a Tide of Lava, which with their flames and other devastating attacks wiped out almost the entire group. Only four came out relatively unscathed!
It’s not the first time it happens in WoW
Surely this situation will seem familiar to the most veteran of you as this is not the first time that a group has been practically annihilated in the dungeons of WoW Classic Hardcore since this mode was launched in September 2023. Again quoting our colleagues from Millenium, this team of players made several mistakes, starting with not taking the potion of superior fire protection before engaging in the second fight. “In practical terms, this means that if everyone had spent half a second drinking this potion, which is mandatory in every raid to the Magma Core… everyone would have survived, more or less,” he says. Without a doubt, like so many others before them, this experience will make them act differently in future forays.
