Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater developers are creating a multiplayer online skater game that can bring together up to 50 simultaneous players

The former Neversoft developers, known for their work on the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise, left skateboarding video games in 2009 and created Free range games, where they worked on other projects. 15 years later, they return to their original projects to create a massive online multiplayer dedicated to skateboarding.

Wrekless will be a small-scale MMO that will allow players to build skateparks and mini-games in real time with up to 50 other skaters. The game mechanics allow for the dynamic construction of ramps and jumps just in front of or below moving skaters. Players will also be able to place speed boosters or remove bars under the board in the middle of a grind, adding a layer of strategy and creativity to the game to achieve the best possible tricks based on the ideas the players have at the moment.

The game not only relies on the creativity of the community to create parks, but also offers official levels designed by the developers. In addition, the most epic moments of the players can be recorded, which will allow the best plays and tricks to be shared and relived. The variety of assets in the construction kit promises a wide diversity of park themes, offering endless design possibilities.

The Wrekless Early Access phase will begin during the third quarter of 2024 and will last approximately one year, although the cost of access has not yet been revealed. This period will allow developers to collect feedback from players and make improvements before the official launch. The player community will play a crucial role in the development and refinement of the game during this stage and will be able to access it through Steam and Epic Games.

The game will also allow you to edit your characters for more variety.

Free Range Games is not an unknown name in the industry, having released the crafting survival game The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria last year. Additionally, they’ve collaborated with other studios on notable projects like The Callisto Protocol and Oddworld: Soulstorm and released smaller titles like Rube Goldberg Workshop and Spelldrifter, but considering their work on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, expectations remain high.
