We have been hearing for a long time about a possible portable xbox that allows us to enjoy the great Microsoft games in the palm of our hands, in the style of Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck among many other recent portable devices. For now there is still no official confirmation in this regard, but within the framework of the Xbox Games Showcase 2024the head of Xbox has made some statements that practically confirm its existence.
“The future of our hardware is impressive“says Phil Spencer in a interview with IGN. “The work our team is doing with different types of hardware, and different ways of playing, has me absolutely excited,” adds the Xbox manager. Its great event, which has undoubtedly become one of the best in recent years, was focused on video gamesbut Spencer has dropped a message that points right in the direction of that new portable Xbox.

“Today we were all about games… but we’ll have time to get out there and talk more about platforms. And we can’t wait to bring it to you,” continues Phil Spencer. The story doesn’t end here. After these statements, the Microsoft manager was asked if this hypothetical portable Xbox will be a dedicated device in the style of Switch and Steam Deck in which you can enjoy your games without an Internet connection, or on the contrary, it will be a platform focused on streaming gaming. Also here the head of Xbox leaves us with an exciting and very clarifying message.

It is likely that more than one Xbox fan felt somewhat disappointed not to see the announcement of this portable Xbox during the last Microsoft Showcase, but we must remember that just a few months ago those from Redmond presented a route hour in which next-generation Xbox hardware was mentioned, which would be precisely this portable device. For now, though, Microsoft’s official position is that there is nothing to talk about; although in some interviews Phil Spencer has come to recognize that would like to have a portable Xbox.
All that remains is to wait for an official announcement to finally discover this new portable platform that promises to become a key piece of Xbox’s future.
