Assassin’s Creed Shadows, first look and video impressions: these are the differences between Yasuke and Naoe

At the Ubisoft Forward in June, the first gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows was shown, the new release from the Quebec studio for consoles and PC. After many years of asking for it, the saga of the assassins travels to feudal Japan, to the time of Oda Nobunaga and the unification of Japanese territory. It is a turbulent period of civil war, in which the protagonists will face numerous challenges. In addition to what was presented at the event, MeriStation attended a hands-off behind closed doors, where the developers explained the mechanics and revealed more details about the game. Although we cannot show that footage, we capture our feelings in the video on these lines. Here, the text version.

Two characters, two ways of living the adventure

Playing with Yasuke is not the same as playing with Naoe. The two playable protagonists have two different playable profiles: while the samurai is a tank and a strong man, ideal for open conflict, Naoe blends into the shadows and uses all kinds of tools to go unnoticed. For the first time, players can switch characters between objectives, giving them the option to choose which tactics they want to implement on each mission. According to Alejandro Castillo, the editor who attended the event, the feeling is that embodying Naoe is more challenging.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will go on sale next November 15 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 and PC. In Ubisoft Forward, MeriStation also had access to a demo of Star Wars Outlaws. Unlike the title set in Japan, there was an opportunity to take the controls and try out some missions. We collect our feelings in this article, which also includes the commented gameplay video.
