Ulanzi 27mm F/2.8 Lens for Sony E-Mount APS-C Mirrorless Cameras Launched

Ulanzi is entering the lens market with its first lens for Sony E-Mount cameras: the 27mm F/2.8. This compact lens covers APS-C image sensors, has autofocus capabilities with eye tracking, and supports in-camera lens correction. Let’s take a look!

Ulanzi entered the film industry in 2015 by launching quick release systems and later expanded into many other types of products, including microphones, tripod systems, LED lights, camera housings, etc. No less than 3,400 product launches later, the company is entering the lens market with the 27mm F/2.8, its first prime lens for Sony E-Mount APS-C cameras.

Ulanzi 27mm F/2.8 – characteristics

The Ulanzi 27mm F/2.8 is a compact prime lens that features a length of only 48.1mm/1.8”. It is mainly made of plastic and weighs 182g/6.4oz.

As mentioned above, it is only available on Sony E-Mount and covers APS-C image sensors. Ulanzi mentioned that it is compatible with Sony ZV-E1/E10 and Sony A1/A5000/A6000/A7/A9/NEX series cameras. However, the company did not mention cinema cameras, such as the Sony FX30. On the side of the lens, there is a USB-C port for future firmware updates, so other cameras may be added in the future.

This 27mm F/2.8 prime lens communicates with your Sony camera and has autofocus capabilities. According to Ulanzi, it supports Eye Tracking and in-camera chromatic aberration/distortion correction.

Lens design

The design of the 27mm F/2.8 consists of 6 elements divided into 5 groups. The front filter thread has a diameter of 52mm. Lastly, the minimum focusing distance is 30cm/11.8”.
