Summer Game Fest 2024 – We tried The Plucky Squire, the new thing from Devolver Digital

We were able to try The Plucky Squire at the Summer Game Fest and we’ll tell you what we thought of it

When one thinks of Return Digital, inevitably one thinks of unique and interesting proposals. As a distributor of independent games, Devolver built a reputation for taking risks with projects that perhaps other companies would ignore, and thus some of the most iconic games in the industry came into our hands. The Plucky Squirewith its particular visual style, seeks to be one of them.

In the past Summer Game Fest 2024 we were able to try this game from the studio All Possible Futures, of which you only need a look at the trailers to end up captivated. This adventure takes place in two different planes, 2D and 3D, but how we move between those planes and the context that the game uses to enclose this change of dimensions is in itself one of the great attractions of the title.

The Plucky Squire, from All Possible Futures.

Our hero is expelled from his adventure book, and must face various enemies and challenges both in the real world and in the world of his book. This very interesting premise also has a very particular name associated with it: James Turner. In addition to being one of the founders of All Possible FuturesTurner is known for having been part of Game Freakwhere he not only fulfilled the role of game director as HarmoKnightbut he was also an art director for games Pokemonincluding Pokémon Sword & Shield.

In the video above we tell you what we thought of what we were able to try The Plucky Squire during the Summer Game Fest 2024. The game does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it is expected to arrive sometime in 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, nintendo switch and PC.
