HONOR Has Defocus Eye Protection and Deepfake Detection

During his presentation at the MWC Shanghai 2024 the technology brand HONOR revealed two Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovations that promise to revolutionize the industry: AI Defocus Eye Protection wave Defocus eye protection and AI Deepfake Detection. These new features are designed to empower people and offer a new level of security for users.

HONOR highlighted its latest advances in human-centered AI, reaffirming its commitment to integrating AI into its devices and its belief in the potential of hardware enabled for these functionalities. These solutions not only provide personalized services but also protect user privacy, reinforcing that HONOR’s focus is on creating technology that puts people first.

“AI is revolutionizing our lives and driving the smartphone industry, but much of the industry has been focused on cloud-based AI, which is only part of the puzzle. On-device AI, which runs on smartphones understands us better than any other device, is uniquely positioned to offer services tailored to us and our preferences,” said George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co. “At HONOR, we believe that on-device AI has the potential to push users to be more capable in everything they do. “We invite all industry players to join us as we explore the untapped potential of on-device AI.”

Defocus Eye Protection: Eye protection technology that evolves from prevention to relief

Introducing the latest advancements in eye protection technology, HONOR launched Defocus eye protection at MWC Shanghai. Considering the global rise in cases of myopia caused by prolonged use of screens, this technology leverages AI to simulate blur glasses on the smart device screen.

Wearing anti-focus glasses has been shown to benefit eye health, as they intentionally induce a controlled blurring in the wearer’s peripheral visual field to help maintain sharp central vision. This effect creates an altered visual perception that slows down the eye’s elongation process, leading to myopia.

This is how HONOR has managed to evolve eye protection: from prevention to the creation of technology that can bring relief to consumers. HONOR Defocus eye protection has been shown to reduce users’ transient myopia by an average of 13 degrees after reading for 25 minutes, with some users experiencing a maximum reduction of 75 degrees.

Fraud Mitigation with AI Deepfake Detection

Avoiding the risks posed by cloud-based “deepfake” AI technology, HONOR has introduced AI Deepfake Detection. To help prevent fraud and detect digitally manipulated content, AI Deepfake Detection It examines information such as eye contact, lighting, image clarity, and video playback frame by frame to identify errors invisible to the human eye.

Furthermore, Artificial Intelligence Deepfake Detection has been trained through a large data set of videos and images related to online scams, allowing the AI to perform identification, analysis and comparison in three seconds.

If the feature detects synthetic or altered content, a risk warning is immediately issued to the user, discouraging further interaction with potential scammers for their own safety.
