All the iPhones that will update to iOS 18 in September and with what limitations they will do so
If you completely missed WWDC 2024 or you don’t even know what event that is, but you have an iPhone, tell you that it was where iOS 18 was presented. This will be the next big iOS update and it is already in beta, although will arrive in September stably for all compatible iPhones.
And that nuance of “compatible” is important, since as usual, it will not be compatible with all models. Yes it will be with the same ones as iOS 17, although some of the best news will be limited to two of the most recent devices.
The iPhones that will receive iOS 18 in September

Not all the news will reach all iPhones
On some previous occasions we have found that, despite updating to a new iOS, some iPhones do not have all their functionalities. And this is what is happening now with the new artificial intelligence which the company has named Apple Intelligence and which even includes a new and powerful Siri.
Due to a number of hardware limitations, the list of devices that will not have Apple Intelligence is longer than those supported. In fact, they are only two devices those that may have these functions:
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
Of course, it is expected that with future iPhone 16s this will improve and also the normal and ‘Plus’ models will accept it. However, and except for a major surprise, the rest of the terminals will never have it. The same happens with elements such as the new way of protecting the batteries, also exclusive to the latest ‘Pro’ models.
