The most important fighting game tournament in the world, EVO, does not stop growing and now, as indicated by the organization, This year’s edition has broken several records, including that of the esports tournament with the largest number of participants.
As announced through a statement EVO 2024 has 10,224 players signed up, a number never seen before for a video game tournament. According to what they detail, in the case of the tournament itself, the record so far was held by EVO 2016 with a total of 9,833 participants, while in the 2023 edition 9,221 people registered.
It is worth mentioning that these figures correspond to the number of people, since some players register for several games in the tournament. This is how the tournament has a total of 16,231 registrations.
“At the time of this publication, there are a total of 16,231 registrations from 10,224 players participating in at least one of the EVO 2024 featured games. This is the first time a video game tournament has reached more than 10,000 unique competitors, setting a new all-time record, not only for EVO, but for all of esports.”
EVO 2024 will be held from July 19 to 21 in Las Vegas.
