Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a CNET Editors’ Choice award pick, offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, and PC for free. $17 a monthA subscription gives you access to a huge library of games, with new titles added every month — like the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — plus other benefits like online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles.

Microsoft brought Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 and other titles to Game Pass Ultimate in early June, and the company added these titles to the service recently.

My time at Sandrock

It seems strange to describe this title as “cozy” since it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world about 300 years after most technology was destroyed. But I also don’t know how else to describe a game that has two beefy cats named Banjo and Captain who have quests you must complete. Otherwise, this life simulator is full of crafting, farming, and occasional fights with bandits and monsters.

Kerplerth

Living on a hostile alien planet can be difficult. But in this 2D sandbox survival title, you can have some fun while you’re at it. You have to search for supplies on an unknown planet and craft items, such as spaceship parts, to help you survive. Fortunately, you can play with others in online multiplayer, so if you’re having trouble getting past a particular enemy, you can recruit them to help you.

EA Sports FC 24

If your team isn’t doing as well as you’d hoped at Euro 2024, now’s your chance to fix it. You can pit your favorite country’s team against some of the best players from around the world as you aim for international glory and win the Henri Delaunay Trophy.

SteamWorld Excavation

If you’ve ever played games like Minecraft and Terrarium and enjoyed digging underground, finding gems, and encountering monsters, this one is for you. The premise is simple: you dig underground to find gems to sell above ground. But as you go deeper, you will encounter stronger monsters. SteamWorld Dig also has random encounters, so you’ll never encounter a similar underground layout twice.

SteamWorld 2 Excavation

And if you couldn’t get enough of the original SteamWorld Dig, the sequel is also joining Game Pass. Its gameplay is similar to the original, with plenty of digging, gem collecting, and fighting underground monsters, but there’s more story to SteamWorld Dig 2. A series of mysterious earthquakes have shaken — get it, rocked? — a small mining town, and it’s up to you to figure out what’s going on and save the town.

Robin Hood: Builders of Sherwood

You control the legendary and heroic outlaw in this action-adventure title. It’s up to you and your band of merry men to free Sherwood from the tyrannical Sheriff of Nottingham. You can fight, hunt, craft and steal items to help sustain the local communities. You’ll also meet other legendary characters along the way, such as Lady Marian and Little John.

Exit game pass

Microsoft is adding those six games to Game Pass Ultimate, but it’s also removing five titles from the service on June 30 and one on July 5. So you still have some time to finish the side quests before you have to buy these games separately.

Departure June 30

Coming out July 5
