Youtube has announced new features in the viewing experience available to subscribers of the Premium version, including the picture-in-picture function for YouTube Shorts and the option known as ‘Jump ahead’ for Android terminals.

Picture-in-picture mode allows you to continue watching videos while browsing other apps. When enabled, you can reduce the size of the video and drag it around. different parts of the screen.

To prevent the video from shrinking and being displayed this way while browsing, however, you should pause or stop playing a YouTube video before exiting the app, as Google explains on its website.

The platform has introduced this feature in YouTube Premium as well to have an uninterrupted experience when viewing YouTube Shorts videos, those that have a vertical format and have a duration of no more than 60 seconds.

The company has commented that subscribers of the premium version can now “multitask” while watching this content in the mobile application for Android devices, according to a statement.

He has also commented that the option ‘Jump ahead’ -which began testing a few months ago-, powered by a combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and audience data, is also available for this operating system, although for the moment only in the United States.

Users of the YouTube Premium application on iOS devices, on the other hand, will have to wait a few weeks to be able to use this functionality, although Google has not specified when it will be available.

On the other hand, he recalled that subscribers of the paid version of YouTube can try “the latest in designs, assistive AI and the most recent features” of YouTube Shorts, such as smart downloading of these videos, through early access.
