WhatsApp has launched a new function to organize events through group chats, with which users will be able to plan the meeting, confirm details and track attendance with the people who are part of that conversation.

The Meta instant messaging platform, which continues to implement new features to improve the user experience, has incorporated this functionality to facilitate organization when meeting friends or holding meetings with coworkers.

This new event feature in WhatsApp Groups will allow you to manage the main issues when organizing an event directly in the chat, as confirmed by the platform through X (formerly Twitter). With this feature, you can therefore determine the date and time of the event, attendance, location or whether it will be held via a group call.

As the specialized media WaBetaInfo has seen, this is a new feature that was initially developed for WhatsApp communities. However, now the company has started rolling out this feature generally for group chats, for both iOS and Android devices.

It can be accessed via the options menu, located next to the survey tool with a calendar icon. Once you click on ‘Event’, a tab opens from which users can add a name to the event and a description.

Likewise, you must select the day and time at which the event will be held and add a location if it is in person. On the other hand, you can also activate a ‘WhatsApp call link’ option, with which a group call will be scheduled that users can access through said url, for occasions in which the event is held separately. ‘online’ form. You can specify whether the call will be audio only or also video.

Once the event is created, group members can view the invitation and accept their attendance. Additionally, event creators and administrators can update the details at any time, such as adding a time change.

WaBetaInfo also explained that this tool maintains the end-to-end encryption security characteristic of the social network. Therefore, only group members have access to the event details. With all this, WhatsApp is already implementing group events globally for all users with the latest update for iOS and Android devices.
