New features allow more control over alerts received in each application on Galaxy devices

The One UI 6.1 update brings several new features for users to take better advantage of alongside Samsung’s new advancements, including detailed customization of notifications. This means you can have better control over the alerts you receive in each smartphone and tablet app, selecting exactly what you want to see in your notifications.

With these new settings, Samsung offers a more personalized experience, allowing users to focus on the alerts that really interest them, avoiding a large volume of unwanted ads and recommendations. Notification customization in One UI 6.1 is another step in making Galaxy devices more efficient and better suited to each user’s needs.

To configure, after updating the device to the latest version of One UI, simply go to Settings, select Notifications and then Advanced Settings. Then click Manage notification categories for each app. This feature allows users to decide which types of notifications they want to receive and which they prefer to silence.

For example, in a GPS application, only navigation instructions and travel notifications can be kept active, turning off recommendation notifications. On social media, you can choose to receive direct messages and comments, but turn off notifications for likes and new followers.

It is worth noting that notification categories are disabled by default in the One UI 6.1 update. Therefore, users need to manually enable these options to customize their notifications as per their preferences.

One UI 6.1 is available for a wide range of Samsung devices, including the Galaxy S24, S23, S22, S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold5, Z Flip5, Z Fold4, Z Flip4, Z Fold3, Z Flip3, Galaxy Note 20 series, and Galaxy A54 and A53 models. On tablets, One UI 6.1 is available for update on models in the Galaxy Tab S7, Tab S8, and Tab S9 lineups.
