WhatsApp has incorporated the event planning function in groupsallowing users to pin important events to a specific date and time. Previously, this functionality was only available to communities.
“You can now plan events, confirm details, and track RSVPs directly in the group chat,” the company noted through its X (formerly Twitter) account.
To create a new event within a WhatsApp group chat, follow these steps:
1. Open the interest group.
2. Tap the paperclip icon next to the camera.
3. Select Event and add the respective details.
You do not need to be an administrator to enable an event in a group, the opposite case of a community, where it is necessary to be in charge of administration.
1. Open the WhatsApp application on your mobile device.
2. Go to the ‘Chats’ section.
3. Select ‘New chat’.
4. Choose ‘New group’.
5. Select the contacts to add to the group.
6. Confirm your selection with ‘Next’.
7. Assign a name to the group and optionally a photo.
8. Finish creating the group with the ‘Create’ button.
WhatsApp communities bring members together in topic-based groups. Anyone can create a WhatsApp community. A user can create new topic-based communities or add existing WhatsApp groups.
Here are some useful points from the communities:
– Create events.
– Share surveys.

– Use controls for administrators.
– Respond to community notices.
1. Go to the ‘Communities’ tab.
2. Select ‘New Community’.
3. Write the name of the community, making sure it does not exceed 100 characters.
4. Optionally, add a description that gives members a clear idea of the community’s topic.
5. Add a community image by clicking on ‘Add community image’. You can choose between options such as ‘Take photo’, ‘Upload photo’, ‘Emojis and Stickers’, or ‘Search the Internet’.
6. Select the desired image, which will appear next to the community name in the Chats tab.
7. Finish by selecting the confirmation icon.
In addition to group events, WhatsApp also added a number of new features for its video calls:
– WhatsApp allows users to make video calls with up to 32 participants on any device, be it mobile or computer.
– Recently, WhatsApp had incorporated the screen sharing feature in its video calls. Users simply had to select the icon of a phone with an arrow in the video call menu, but they couldn’t transmit audio of what they were sharing.
WhatsApp has announced that this problem has been resolved. According to Meta, WhatsApp’s parent company, it is now possible to share audio using this feature, which is ideal for watching videos with other people during video calls.
– Another new feature that WhatsApp brings is the featured speaker. This way, users will be able to see who is speaking easily because the person speaking will automatically be highlighted and appear first on the screen. This tool is perfect for video conferences with many people.
– WhatsApp has also optimized the quality of video calls thanks to a feature called MLow, which eliminates noise and echo interference if the environment is noisy.
Additionally, with the MLow codec, WhatsApp says that audio will be clearer, even if the user has poor network connectivity or an older device. They also ensure that video calls will have higher resolution if the user’s connection allows it.
