Indore: Decline in groundwater level in summers has raised concerns among industrialists in Agar and Maksi industrial areas, demanding direct water supply from industry department. In Agar, the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) department has one industrial belt with 76 plots of which around 25 industries have gone into operation. The development work at the upcoming Agar-Malwa industrial area by Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation on about 70 hectare eyeing small and medium scale industries has started and this will be the second belt to come up in the region.Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Bharati secretary Rajesh Arora said, “The existing industrial area in Agar is around 40-year-old and does not have direct water supply. We have demanded the industry department to construct an overhead water tank and provide water to industries in the absence of which all of them are dependent on groundwater and tanker supply.”Industries of Maksi Industrial Area are also waiting for direct water supply to meet operational demand. Demand for water tankers in Sanwer Road Industrial Area also goes up in summers MPIDC has contracted with Narmada Valley Development Authority to supply around three MLD water to Maksi industrial belt. The industrial belt in Maksi has more than 50 industries and is about 30-year-old. Industries in Maksi are dependent on groundwater and tankers to meet industrial demand.
