In a collaboration between Studio Dragon and Noh Hee-kyung’s agency, the production of this epic drama aims to set a new benchmark in quality and scale. However, what truly ignites excitement within the industry and among fans alike is the potential casting coup of two luminaries of Korean entertainment: Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo. Reports suggest that both actors are “positively considering” their roles in this K-drama.
The estimated production cost per episode for this upcoming project is around 3 billion won (approximately 2.1 million USD), resulting in a total production budget projected to reach 80 billion won (approximately 58 million USD). Discussions are currently ongoing regarding the placement of the K-drama on OTT platforms.
Last year, the series ‘Moving’ invested over 50 billion won (approximately 36 million USD) in production expenses to produce a total of 20 episodes. Despite its rarity in domestic production scale, the series achieved remarkable global love and popularity. Speculation suggests that Noh Hee-kyung’s upcoming project, with its extensive episode count and period drama genre, may incur even higher production costs, potentially surpassing the magnitude of ‘Moving’.
However, as the script remains in flux, there’s room for adjustments. Addressing this uncertainty, Studio Dragon expressed to OSEN, “Since it’s a project in the planning stage without a finalized script, the exact number of episodes and production budget are undecided,” as quoted by Kbizoom.
