  • INDEC published the report “Living Conditions” in the country.
  • 88.3% of people had access to the running water network, 61.9% to the gas network and 69.3% to the sewage network in the 2nd half of 2023.

During the second half of 2023nails 15,060 million people (51%), making up some 4,577 million households (2.2%) did not have access to any of the three public servicescomposed of running water, mains gas and sewers.

Meanwhile, some 14,450 million (49%) people do access the three services and make up some 5,461 million homes (54.4%).

This was reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) in his report titled “Indicators of household living conditions in 31 urban agglomerations”which he published this Thursday, and from where it also emerges that the 60.2% of households own the home and landMeanwhile he 6.4% of households own their home only. For his part, the 22.0% of households are renters. Within the category of occupants presented here, those included occupants for payment of taxes or expenses, free occupants with permission and de facto occupants (without permission); Together, they represent the 9.5% of total households.

Besides, 1,218 million people (4.1%)which make up 222,222 homes (2.2%), lives in critical overcrowding while some 28,284 million (95.9%) live without overcrowding and make up some 9,814 million homes (87.8%).

Meanwhile, it is also observed that some 2.39 billion people (8.1%) live in flood zonesin 679,000 homes (6.8%) while some 1,658 million they live near garbage dumps (5.6%)which make up some 482,000 (4.8%) households.

On the other hand, when observing the “sanitation” that households own, the study shows that some 1,264 homes (12.6%), where they live 4,438 million peoplehave inadequate conditions while some 8,775 million (87.4%) of householdswhere they live 25,072 million (85%) of peoplepresents adequate conditions.

“They are defined as households with inadequate sanitation those that have at least one of these characteristics: a) they do not have a bathroom, b) they have the bathroom outside the land, c) they share the bathroom with other households, d) the bathroom drain is not connected to the public network (sewer) or to a septic tank, or e) the bathroom It does not have a water discharge“, highlights the report.

Medical coverage of the population

From the report, it appears that in the last six months of 2023, the 67.5% of people have social work, prepaid, mutual or emergency serviceMeanwhile he 32.4% only have medical coverage through the public systemwhich is equivalent to 9,551,000 people.

Segmented by sex, women represent the largest number of people with private medical coverage with 68.6% while men have 66.3% with this coverage.

In this sense, it will be interesting after the strong increase in prepaid services to know in the first quarter of 2024 to observe the number of people who were served in the public system and migrated from private coverage.
