UPDATE: 5:30 pm – Destin Fire was called out for a commercial structure fire Saturday morning at Tailfins Waterfront Grill.

“Upon arrival, there was heavy smoke and flames as the third floor was fully engulfed,” as stated on the Destin Fire Rescue Facebook page

“A second alarm was called immediately. Crews got the fire under control and several firefighters had to be transported or treated for minor injuries,” according to the Destin Fire Facebook.

No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

UPDATE: As of 1:45 pm, April 27, Harbor Boulevard (US 98) eastbound in front of Tailfisn has one eastbound lane open, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A Saturday structure fire at Tailfins Waterfront Grill, 172 Harbor Blvd., in Destin, has been upgraded to a second alarm fire, according to the Destin Fire Rescue Facebook Page.

Fire and Rescue is asking that people stay clear of the area as other fire departments are trying to access the building.

Harbor Boulevard (US 98) eastbound in front of Tailfins is closed due to the structure fire.

Tailfins opened in 2015 and have quickly become a favorite for locals and visitors.

The three-level restaurant is on the harbor between Dewey Destin’s Harborside on the east side and Galati’s Yachts and AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar on the west.

It overlooks Destin harbor and has a Tiki bar and tables set up along the waterfront. Sports are always playing on the many screens located throughout.
