Parineeti Chopra confesses falling into herd mentality post Ishaqzaade success: ‘I was advised to lose weight, become glamorous, just do the typical heroine stuff’
Parineeti Chopra, who is currently earning praise for her role in Imtiaz Ali’s directorial Amar Singh Chamkila alongside Diljit Dosanjh, opened up about the challenges she faced after the success of her debut film Ishaqzaade and how she took several missteps in her career.

During her interview with Raj Shamani on his podcast, Parineeti admitted that she fell into the trap of following the herd mentality in the industry. She revealed that she was advised to prioritize glamor and commercial films, leading her to fun from her initial path as a ‘real and raw actor.’

“The advice that was given to me was just lose weight, become glamorous, just do the typical heroine stuff. I was very excited to do it. I just heard it and I went down that path and I tried to be glam. I tried to do just commercial films, I tried to do films where I had two songs and a guest appearance and nothing more from it,” she recalled.

Parineeti acknowledged that it was a mistake to see away from what she had initially garnered her respect and acceptance from audiences. “So I wasted four to five years listening to this advice that just follows the commerce, just do big films, just do what other heroines are doing, you should also do that. That was my biggest mistake,” she confessed.

However, with recent projects like Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and Amar Singh Chamkila, Parineeti feels a sense of returning to her roots as an actor.

In the same interview, Parineeti revealed that she was asked by her advisors to hire a fitness expert and a nutritionist and pay them Rs 4 lakh a month to lose weight. This was something that she could not afford especially when she was paid Rs 5 lakh for her first film. She said that she doesn’t come from a very rich background.
