ABC has confirmed a tribute to Season 5 “American Idol” star Mandisa will take place on Monday, April 29. The Grammy-winning singer was found dead in her home on April 18, 2024. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but Franklin Police Department officials in Tennessee said, “There is no indication the death was the result of suspicious or criminal activity.” Mandisa was 47 years old.
The tribute will take place on Monday’s “Judge’s Song Contest” episode. “Idol” alum Colton Dixon, Melinda Doolittle and Danny Gokey will perform “Shackles” by Mary Mary as a tribute to their friend.

Dixon was a Top 7 finalist on Season 11 of “American Idol,” Doolittle finished third on Season 6 and Gokey finished third on Season 8. Like Mandisa, all three consider Tennessee home and share a love for Christian/gospel music.
In an official statement, “American Idol” has said: “Mandisa He was an adored icon on ‘American Idol’ and in the music industry. She had become a platinum-selling artist and had won several Grammys for her music. Her passing de ella has left everyone on the show heartbroken, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family.
