Members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute tour the U of A Herbarium.

Share your knowledge and expertise with an audience that is hungry for learning and lively discussion. Current and retired university faculty, graduate students, distinguished community members, business leaders, hobbyists and others are invited to share their knowledge on a wide variety of thought-provoking topics guided by member interest.

OLLI is currently seeking instructors and course proposals for the upcoming fall 2024 term. The program was established at the U of A in 2007 and provides an avenue for adults to suit a variety of stimulating courses, cultural events and social activities. It is based in the College of Education and Health Professions.

Whether it be a multi-session course, workshop, ongoing study group or a one-time lecture, hike or walking tour, the OLLI Curriculum Committee is seeking knowledgeable, enthusiastic and engaging individuals to offer classes. Programs can be offered in person, virtually via Zoom or in hybrid format.

Teaching with OLLI is a rewarding experience and an excellent avenue for those who are passionate and want to share their knowledge with the community. “I hardly remember in nearly 35 years in the classroom teaching and engaging with such an enthusiastic group of learners. I’m not sure who did the bulk of the learning, me or them,” said Kevin Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., U of A professor of sociology. It’s common for OLLI instructors to donate their instructional time and to use OLLI courses as a unique opportunity to engage with the community.

Course proposals are reviewed twice a year. The deadline is April 30 for fall courses. Contact OLLI at 479-575-4545 or email [email protected] for more information. You may also submit a proposal via the website olli.uark.edu/participate/teach.
